I AM NOT A JOKE (Take Two)

“Feminism has never been so hip and trendy! We could see this as a true victory for feminism and still post a “I’m a feminist” selfie real quick. Let’s be honest. This kind of “high gloss feminism” doesn’t cover up the smell of the shit we encounter every day in the form of sexism, racism and every other kind of possible phobia.”

Study #1 @ Asian Film Festival Berlin 2017

Copyright Asian Film Festival Berlin

Study #1 has seen its first light at the Opening of the Asian Film Festival Berlin 2017 on the 7th of October at Ballhaus Naunynstraße. As the name suggests it is an on-going discourse with myself of being a body marked as female/foreign/other while being Korean-German, carrying the burden of herstory, history and the future as a mobile body. Thank you for all of those who came and supported me at a very fragile moment.

The Opening film was Gook. A fine movie about the LA Riots and a friendship, a bond which blossomed before that of two minority groups, Korean/Asian-American and African-America, meant to hate each other by the system. Under the title of busy bodies, they have a great selection under the themes of local, mobile and queer bodies. Go and have a look at the great program
